Stubborn Tradition
Orlha had nudged the curtains open with her horns, heavily sighing only a little when they got tangled in the set that curved backwards. She had heard that there was going to be shooting stars this evening. While she didn’t want to risk being outdoors with the events she had heard, she certainly wasn’t going to miss wishing on a star. The tradition permeated even into the ortusi herdlands. Sure, usually it was reserved as tales for small kids, and those still under the care of their parents, but some traditions were difficult to break. She had wished on the stars for every single festival since she had been a kid, so she was not going to stop now. She flicked her tail in annoyance at a hard to reach scratch, and then snorted and stood so she could simultaneously stick her head out the window to see the stars, but also access her brush set up for scratching. Some places were always just out of reach. The poles in her room at least, could be could be covered in brush, and bristles so she had relief by being able to lean against one of them. She paused for a moment mid scratch before her ears perked forward and she grinned. That may be something! Staring at the sky until she spotted a star to wish on, she whispered her wish to the sky. ‘I wish I had a pair of horns that curved backwards and could reach more itchy spots than my current ones do.”
